Interestingly, keeping the arrival of huge tourists across the world to this historical country you can find a plethora of groups offering the facility of rent a car to the tourists and visit the famous sites of archaeological relevance, beautiful islands and beaches, and many more. But, there are certain regulations that need to be kept in concern by the tourists, before renting a car to travel around. Some of these rules and regulations are mentioned in the paragraphs set forth: 1.Traffic on the right-hand side: As a normal condition the traffic in most of the countries across the world moves in the left direction, but this is not the same in Greece. It would be surprising to know that whether you are traveling a rented car or driving a car you need to drive in the right hand, and therefore the tourists coming from the countries like United Kingdom, Australia, or different countries might find it difficult to drive in Greece. 2.Highways between the roads: One more thing, apart from right-hand traffic, which could surprise to most of the tourists in Greece is falling on the highways in the mainland. This can be a little bit risky for them, but if they drive carefully, driving could be easier for the tourists. 3.Toll plazas: The highways in Greece are not exceptional to the highways in other countries, here also you will find the toll plazas at different locations. The toll charges vary from 2.5 to 3,5 Euros for the regular passenger cars. 4.Age of the driver: While you hire a car in Greece, make sure that you have attained the age of 23 years and not above 70 years. Along with this, you should also carry an International driving license followed by two years of driving experience. Moving ahead, only the driver referred in the contract with the car hiring company is eligible to drive the vehicle, until unless the name of the second driver is not mentioned in the contract.

  2. 5.Look for additional features: Although the car rented in Greece is not an exception to the cars rented across the world in terms of features embellished in it. But, still, if you are concerned about specific features like the integration of GPS, child seat or anything extra, make sure to bring this in the notice of car renting group. Along with this, you can also let the company know about the transmission offered in the car, whether automatic or with the manual gear transmission system. 6.Documents required: If you are a traveler from a non-European country then you will be required to carry an IDP and your driving license. According to recent traffic laws introduced in May 2018, in case if you are found breaking the law, then the heavy fine will be levied on both the visitor and the car renting group. Here, it would be important to mention that there are lots of car renting groups which do not inform their foreign clients for carrying their international driving license while renting the car from them. On the contrary, they mention a clause, according to which the person hiring the car will be required to pay the fine, in case if he is caught by the traffic police for violating the laws. Apart from this, you will be also required to carry your passport or ID and the credit card as a security. 7.What type of vehicle to hire: If you are going out to visit the sites located in the surrounding towns, then the best idea is to take a flight or travel on a bus or train according to your convenience. But, in case if you want to go out for shopping or visit the local sites and famous destinations, then hiring a taxi is the best option. However, the vehicle that you hire should be according to the number of persons accompanying your group, because nobody will prefer to visit the beautiful places of this iconic country by keeping his luggage on his laps.
