Carbon Footprint Toolkit www.bp.com/bpes/cft2009 The energy resource wall gameTeacher’s notes This presentation contains a series of five pictures, each of which illustrates a particular kind of energy resource. Students have to decide whether each particular energy resource is renewable or non-renewable. Make sure that the room is free of trip hazards. Designate one classroom wall as ‘renewable’ and the opposite one as ‘non-renewable’. As each picture appears, students go to either the ‘renewable’ or ‘non-renewable’ wall, depending what they think the status of that particular energy resource is. Or ask students to vote with a show of hands. Ask students to explain their choices. Ensure that students do not run.

You have to decide which are renewable and which are non-renewable. One of the walls in your classroom is the ‘renewable’ wall and another is the ‘non-renewable’ wall. Your teacher will tell you which wall is which. When you see a picture appear, walk to the correct wall. You get one point for each one you get right. Do not run. It is not a race.
