  6. Why Evidence? • Benchmark against set NMC (2008) standard • Identifies the development of mentor knowledge, skills and attitudes • Verification of consistent mentorship practice and progression in learning • Identification of strengths and areas for development as a mentor

  7. Mentor Standards 8 Domains: • Establish effective working relationships • Facilitation of learning • Assessment and accountability • Evaluation of learning • Creating an environment for learning • Context of practice • Evidenced-based practice • Leadership

  11. NMC (2008) Requirements • Mentor two students in 3 years • Annual update • Recognised update sessions • Face to Face • Individual activities • Evidenced through portfolio • Triennial review

  12. Mentorship Evidence for Triennial Review • Map ongoing development against NMC (2008) mentor standards • Suggested mapping of domains and outcomes against Knowledge Skills Framework core dimensions • Record of student learners • Annual updating activity • Triennial review record

  13. Live Mentor Register • Held by service partners – NHS employees • Held by GCU – independent service employees • Must be recorded as a mentor on the live register before mentoring a student without supervision
