  2. 2013 Dio Hockey Review Meeting 6.00pm Monday 26th November AGENDA • Review of 2012 season • Report on structure and operation of the hockey committee • Election of hockey committee for 2013 • Parent discussion/feedback/ideas relating to the future structure and operation of the hockey programme at Dio. • General

  3. HOCKEY 2012 122 Players • 8 Teams • 18 Coaches • Including 10 Student Coaches • 8 Managers

  4. Europe Hockey Tour • 18 Girls (including a mix of 1st,2nd 3rd XI and Junior A girls) travelled across Europe to play teams from Belgium, Holland and Germany. • The girls played six games in eight days and had a good mix of wins, competitive loses and draws.

  5. Europe Hockey Tour • The girls experienced playing hockey against teams that play a completely different style umpired in a completely different way! • Was a good learning experience for the girls about the degree of physicality required to compete internationally.

  6. Waikato Diocesan Hockey Review 2012 Waikato Secondary competition • 1st XI won A grade • Junior A & 3rd XI made top 4 in B grade, 3rd XI played in final. • Senior Blue made top 4 in D grade • 4th XI finished 5th in C Grade (a grade higher then they played in in 2011) • Junior B also played in a higher grade then 2011 and competed well

CHAIRPERSON = HOCKEY CO-ORDINATOR Key tasks and responsibilities • Provide strategic leadership and act in the best interests of • Waikato Diocesan Hockey at all times. • Manage committee meetings. • Act in consultation with committee members. • Organize and manage an annual review meeting and the • election of new committee members at the end of each • season. • Represent the Waikato Diocesan Hockey at local school and • clubs levels • Spend some time on during the week supporting and • overseeing Dio hockey Games, troubleshooting any • problems that arise with players/coaches or umpires

SECRETARY Key tasks and responsibilities • Prepare agenda for meetings in consultation with the chairperson and Director of Sport • Make arrangements for meetings, including venue, date, times and hospitality. • Send adequate notice of meetings. • Call for and receive nominations for committees and other positions for the annual review meeting • Take the minutes of meetings and write up the minutes as soon as possible following meetings. • Read, reply and file correspondence promptly. • Maintain up to date database of members, sponsors, etc. • Liaise with members of the public, affiliated bodies and sport agencies. • Other tasks as directed by the committee.

  17. COACH MENTOR Key tasks and responsibilities • Assess the number of student coaches needed for the school hockey teams. • Work with the Head coach and Hockey co-ordinator to identify and organize the training and/or upskilling opportunities for student coaches at the start and during the season. • Responsible for issuing and collecting in student coach’s contracts or agreement forms from all student coaches at the start of the season • Spend some time during the week at Dio at team trainings supporting and mentoring student hockey coaches • With Head coach review student coaches at the end of the season • Compile a roster of all student coaches with their contact details.

  18. UMPIRE CO-ORDINATOR Key tasks and responsibilities • Assess umpiring needs for Diocesan hockey teams for the weekly competitions, additional tournaments and school sports exchanges. • Recruit both adult and student umpires to cover all Waikato Diocesan Hockey team matches. • Organise practical and theoretical training of umpires at the start of the season and organize ongoing training opportunities for student umpires during the season. • Responsible for doing the weekly umpire allocations for all Dio hockey team games. Keep an accurate record of games umpired by each umpire • Attend student umpire matches during the season to mentor them and assist them with any problems or issues that may arise.

TEAM MANAGER CO-ORDINATOR Key tasks and responsibilities • Assess the number of managers needed for the school hockey teams. • Recruit and appoint volunteers to the team manager roles that suit them. • Organize manager orientation and induction. • Liaise with all managers during the season to assist them with any problems or issues that may arise in their teams. • Spend some time during the week supporting and mentoring hockey team managers and troubleshooting any problems that arise at the turf. • Responsible for issuing and collecting in team manager’s agreement forms from all team manager’s at the start of the season • Compile a roster of all managers’ and with their contact details.

  20. HOCKEY CAPTAIN Key tasks and responsibilities • Attend the Waikato Diocesan hockey committee meetings • Act as a link between all hockey players, the hockey committee and the hockey co-ordinator • Role model the values/responsibilities of being a Waikato Diocesan hockey player. • Liaise with all Dio hockey team captains on a regular basis • Ensure team captains are aware of and understand the expectations of their roles. • Support hockey team captains in their role • Advocate for fairplay • Communicate with key personnel e.g. players, managers, coaches
