  1. Implementation of Landscape Biodiversity Objectives For The Prince George Timber Supply Area Spring 2004

  2. WHO?

  3. WHERE?

  4. HOW?SPATIAL vs. ASPATIAL Spatial = fixed locations identified on the ground Aspatial = fixed locations not specified on the ground More flexibility in forest resource planning Lends itself to licensee collaboration

  5. HOW?LICENSEE COLLABORATION • To better achieve biodiversity objectives at the landscape level. • Takes all licensee information into account. • Ensure analysis is done on a consistent basis across the landscape. • Share and economize on the cost of analysis. • Provide a forum for practicing adaptive management.

  6. HOW ?LICENSEE APPORTIONMENT • Establish the target amount of old forest/old interior forest for each NDU/BEC • Apply licensee operating areas to each NDU/BEC • Apportion target proportionally to licensees in unit • Licensees share available surpluses where available • Where unit does not meet target overall, licensees develop a recruitment strategy

  7. PG TSA Licensee Memorandum of Understanding Participating licensees will sign the MoU that: • Documents agreement to collaborate to meet objectives at the landscape level • Identifies apportioned targets for each licensee • Identifies which units require recruitment strategies • Documents agreement to conduct analysis together and share costs • Provides direction for implementation • Documents agreement to participate in monitoring and adaptive management.
