  7. The Daimler AG – The Region‘s Major Employer Approximately 6,000 employees are part of the success story. 75 young people are trained at the Rastatt plant in 2009. There are approx. 1,000 further workplaces at the Industrial Park. The plant educates for 5 technical and commercial professions. The average age of the Rastatt workforce is 41 years.

Rules that apply to group work • Group = 12 employees • Group spokesperson is elected by the group (for a term of six months) and is point of contact for other groups • Group meeting held once a week (30 min.) • Group spokesperson prepares and chairs the group meeting in co-operation with forman and group • Group spokesperson and group provide visual form of a rotation plan and implement it as a tool • Group spokesperson has neither specialist nor disciplinary command authority

  18. Workers´ Representation via Unions Shop Stewards - election every 4 years - every department elects his own Shop Steward. (Plant Rastatt: max. 250 Shop Stewards) - Shop Stewards are an important link between WC and employees and they represent the union members towards the union. - They don´t negotiate with management. - Works Council informs Shop Stewards regularly. - Union lists are nominated for works council elections. - In all plants of DC the IGM has the absolute majority in works councils - 80 % of all works councelors are union members
