  3. Objectives of TTI • Innovative inter-regional support structure to harness the resources of the participating Universities • Increase number of R&D Performers thereby enhancing their competitiveness • To forge lasting links between industry & academia

  4. 3 year Programme • Sept 2001 – Sept 2004 • Budget of €1.1 million • Funded by Enterprise Ireland and AUA Universities • On-campus in Cork, Galway & Limerick • 3 Programme Managers • 3 Project Executives

  9. Innovation Partnerships • Promote collaborative research between Companies and Third level Colleges (Univ. & I of T) • College carries out R&D for the company(s) • Ready access to R&D expertise and facilities • Near market final deliverable • Open to all manufacturing and I.T.S. companies

  12. Support for R&D EU CRAFT • enable groups of SMEs to undertake joint research by contracting research to an outside research supplier. EU 6th FRAMEWORK • gives Irish researchers an opportunity to collaborate with leading European companies and research organisations at the cutting edge of technology, with the support of EU funding WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? • A company - large or small - with the capacity to contribute to a research project • A Small or Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) which does not have its own research capability, or an industrial association representing SMEs, or • A research group at a university or at a research institute

Support for R&D RTI • In-company Product/Process Development R&D Capability • Enhance R&D Function • Technology based start-ups with dependence on R&D Innovation Management Initiative • increase the number of companies undertaking R&D for the first time • to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the innovation and R&D process in those companies already undertaking R&D • to achieve value added R&D by capturing the creative potential of employees.
