  2. From our research findings, the FRDM has an annual RakanBomba program which aims to educate the public on fire awareness & safety. Background Research

Based on our survey conducted, these are some of the results : On people’s current perception of the FRDM : “They are very dedicated and real serious about their job” “My perception of the bomba is that they should reach out to the community & engage with the public in having workshops or events that aid solutions to fire escaping skills. Because not everyone knows much about them except for their purpose” “They are providing very important service in any outbreak of fire” Background Research

  5. Whether people would be curious of the FRDM were to have an event in Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus : Background Research

  6. To increase the awareness of the FDRM’s roles and services amongst the youths (18-25 years old). • To strengthen the relationship between the FRDM and the youths. • To broaden the youth’s knowledge on fire safety. Objectives

On campus activities : • Home safety exhibition (indoor) (e.g. how to use a fire extinguisher) • Re-enactment of rescue scenes (outdoor) • FRDM vehicles display (outdoor) • K9 squad demonstration (outdoor) • Marching squad demonstration (outdoor) • FRDM Mascot • FRDM equipment showcase (indoor) • Photobooth*TBC* • Road traffic accident demonstration (outdoor) Event Ideas

  9. Off campus activities : • “Meet the public” walkabout in PJS 7 so that the FRDM can meet and strengthen the ties with the public and distribute flyers. Event Ideas

  10. Online Media : • Facebook – Creating a Facebook page to build awareness on the upcoming event. Weekly updates & pictures on what’s coming up. (If FRDM can update their own Facebook page would be good as well)(https://www.facebook.com/pages/Code-Red-2013/) • Twitter – Creating a Twitter account where we can post shout outs/announcements and people can follow us to stay tuned for updates.(https://twitter.com/CodeRed_2013) • Blogs – Reaching out to local ‘celebrity’ bloggers to blog about our event.(www.codered2013.wordpress.com) • Youtube – Creating a teaser videoto raise awareness & curiosity on our upcoming event. Event Publicity

  11. Traditional Media : • Newspapers – Sending out pre & post-event press release to targeted media to aid in gaining coverage for the event. (Can also target campus magazines e.g. MYC magazine) • Radio – Reaching out to targeted radio stations to broadcast about the event (e.g. Hitz.FM’s website has an InfoBoard where we can submit details about upcoming events) • Flyers – To be handed out before the event, placed on car windscreens at basement parking lot and outdoor parking lot. • Posters – To be pasted around campus, e.g. commercial block restaurants, academic block classrooms, U-Residence, Gym, computer labs, library, divisional offices, lecturer staffrooms • Banner – To be hung at specific spots in campus, closer to the date banners to be hung on street lamp posts around campus. Event Publicity

Pre-event roadshows : • Suggested time slot – Wednesdays, SOC’s common hour time : 12pm-2pmHand out flyers, have mini fun-facts about the FRDM • False Alarm – One week before the event, we will turn on the false fire alarm and when people start wondering what happens, we distribute flyers. Right after the alarm goes off, we will make an announcement about the upcoming event. Other : • Taylor’s computer desktops – Create a ‘poster’ and put it as the desktop wallpaper • Campus TV – Play our teaser video Event Publicity
