Getting Started • What is Edmodo? • Educational Networking • “Edmodo provides a safe and easy way for your class to connect and collaborate, share content, and access homework, grades and school notices. Our goal is to help educators harness the power of social media to customize the classroom for each and every learner” (Edmodo, 2012). • Sign Up Directions

  5. Notes/Alerts • Say something to entire classes, groups, individual students, or connections. • Attach a file, link, or item from your library a note. • Alerts have a 140 character limit. You cannot include attachments. They appear in bold.

  6. Assignments • Create assignments in Edmodo. • Students can submit electronically. • Students can submit by typing their answer in the box or attaching a file. Students can link to their Google Docs Drive and attach those files, as well. • Edmodo provides a grade book – you can grade assignments and give students feedback as an annotation or a comment.

  7. Quiz • Multiple Choice • True/False • Short Answer • Fill in the Blank • Students can see their results immediately.

  8. Calendar • Edmodo has a calendar feature • Edmodo sends notifications to students when they have quizzes or assignments due, and when they have late assignments or quizzes. • Assignments and quizzes are added to the calendar automatically • You can add events to the calendar

  11. Groups • Create small groups • Allows you to post to groups of students • Small groups can interact with each other

  13. Backpack • Similar to teacher’s library • Also works like a flash drive • Allows students to save files and links, which they can access anywhere they have an internet connection

  14. Teacher Connections • Allows you to share with colleagues • Share resources, library content • Send notes and alerts

  15. Communities • Place to share questions, ideas, and concerns. • Ideas to integrate Edmodo and technology. • Requests to connect with classes throughout the world. • Support group addresses Edmodo questions and concerns.

Asking Students to Join • Use these instructions for your students to join your group if they are new to Edmodo. • If your student is already a member of Edmodo, use these instructions for joining groups. These instructions can also be used for you as a teacher to join other groups. • Looking Up and Resetting Group Codes

  18. Color Code Classes • You can change the color of each class by clicking on the box next to the group name and choosing a color.

  19. Managing Classes/Students • See student username; reset password • Remove users • Parent codes – parents are able to see any public notes, notes posted to the class, or direct messages to the student. • Set users to read-only • Create small groups
