  3. Why Conjugate? • In Spanish, we conjugate verbs to match the subject, or do-er, of the verb. • There is an infinitive of every verb, which ends in either –ar, -er or –ir. (ex: cantar, correr, vivir) • The ending of those infinitives is replaced with a conjugation to become specific to the subject. (either yo, tu, el-ella, nosotros, vosotros, ellos/ellas)

  4. Past Tense • There are two kinds of past tense conjugations in Spanish: Preterite and Imperfect. • The preterite tense is used to refer to actions that occurred at a fixed point in time. • The imperfect tense is used to refer to actions in the past that occurred repeatedly.
