  2. Also known as Literal Equations What is a Literal Equation? The word “literal” comes from the Greek word meaning letters, so a literal is an equation consisting of several variables and/or numbers Generally, these types of equations are used in science or math whenever a large number of variables have an impact on another variable Most scientists solve the literal for the variable that they are trying to calculate and then plug in any known values to calculate Free powerpoint template: www.brainybetty.com

  3. The key to solving a Literal Equation is to isolate the variable that you are trying to solve for, placing everything else on the other side of the equal sign. How do we do this? Look at the original equation and make a list of each operation that was done to the variable. Undo those operations in reverse order using inverse operations.
