  17. Tips • Can be challenging: Not the same as high school • Need to be prepared: 90% test below college level Math • Student decides what class to take and when to take the class.

  18. Pilot Baccalaureate Degree at California Community Colleges • 15 CCC will be offering Bachelor’s degrees • Lower division classes $46 per unit Upper division classes $84 per unit Complete 4-year degree for less then $10,000 • Rio Hondo will offer B.S. in Automotive Technology

CSU: SB 1440 Student Transfer Agreement Reform Act (STAR) Requires the California Community Colleges and California State University to collaborate on the creation of Associate Degrees for transfer (AA-T/AS-T). •The Associate Degrees for Transfer includes: 60 semester units/90 quarter units of coursework CSU GE-Breadth or IGETC 18 units of lower division coursework (defined by the CCC) No additional local graduation requirements required All 113 California community colleges have at least two or more degrees New degrees are being approved every day. CSU: SB 1440 Student Transfer Agreement Reform Act (STAR Act) Students are expected to complete the transfer associate degree with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and to meet the minimum CSU admission requirements Students are Guaranteed Admission to the CSU System with “Junior” status Student are given priority admission consideration to his or her local California State University campus and to a program or major that is similar No guarantee of admission to a specific campus or major Completion of the BA/BS in no more than 60 additional units assuming the student is not completing a minor.
