    What are the main facts about a moose? At the time there are about 1 million moose in the world. Their scientific name is Alces alces. The largest moose are in Alaska. A female moose is called a cow. A male moose is called a bull. Only bulls have antlers. The antlers are about as heavy as a piano bench! How would you like to carry a piano bench on your head? Bulls drop their antlers in winter. Did you know all moose shed? Well, they do. The plural for moose is moose not mooses. If you did not know this about moose now you do!

    What do moose look like? Moose are large animals. They have a heavy body and long legs with hooves. Moose have a big head and big ears. They have a nose that is long and droopy and something called a bell that hangs from their throat. Moose usually have golden brown to black fur. Even though a bull is bigger than a cow a cow can still be as big as a horse! Bulls drop their antlers and get fully sized antlers again in the summer. Did you know moose look like this?

    Who is in a mooses family? The mooses family. The mooses family are deer, elk, and caribou. They are all mammals. Moose usually live by themselves. Sometimes they live with another moose. A baby moose is called a calf. They usually live with the mom for 1 year. The calves are usually born in spring and leave their mom the next spring. Usually 1 or 2 calves are born at one time. Did you know sometimes 3 calves are born at once? Im pretty sure they love their family. I love my family too!

    6. This information is about what a moose does during its life. Moose live until they are about 16. Moose are graceful. They run to about 35 mph. Moose swim to cool off. They easily travel in snow. Cows are usually pregnant for 8 months. They have very poor eyesight. Did you know moose are actually mostly active at dusk and dawn? Moose are unique, arent they?

    How do moose communicate? A moose has a lot of ways to communicate. They have sharp hearing and that helps them communicate. They communicate with their body. Moose roar when they are upset. Sometimes their hair stands up when they are upset. Moose snort when they are angry. They also lower their head and flatten their ears when their angry. Moose whine and moan when they are looking for another moose. You had better start listening!

    How and what do moose eat? Moose are herbivores. Moose eat leaves, twigs from trees, shrubs, and tree bark. Their absolute favorite food is the water lily. Moose feed at the road side. They grind their food with their back teeth. Whats your favorite food?

    9. Chow Down Moose!

    What are the mooses enemies? The enemies of the moose are bears and wolves. We are actually also enemies of the moose! People want mooses antlers or meat to gamble. Cars and trains hit moose a lot, so the moose die. A moose uses its defense by kicking. They can kick hard enough to scare another moose away. Isnt that strange? Better hide ! I think I see a wolf!

    Where do moose live? Moose live in forests. They live throughout Alaska and Canada. Moose also live in the Northern regions of Europe and Asia. Some also live on the edge of the arctic and in North America and Eurasia. Sometimes they live in the treeless north tundra. Moose live near streams, ponds, and lakes. Isnt that amazing! I wonder what it would be like to live there?
