  1. Warm-up 2.3 Have you ever been treated unfairly? Write about a time when this happened. Why do you think this happened?

  2. Jim Crow Laws Intro We will view a video which provides information on the issue of unfairness, particularly as it relates to the treatment of African Americans in the mid-1900s. As you are watching these video, take notes on the information you here and see. Be ready to share information you took notes on after the video. Yes, you must take notes. Do not worry about getting everything down. We will go over key facts after the youtube video.

  4. African American Literacy Test Please have out your notebook and something to write with. Please number 1-10 in your notebook, and label it “African American Literacy Test.” This test will be timed. You will have one minute per question. There will be no talking during this test.

Then, read them through again, highlighting, circling, or underlining the most important key points. • Decide on five of the most important key points and record these in your notebook. • Done early? Read through the samples of Jim Crow Laws and decide which five you feel are most interesting.

Jim Crow Laws: Share With Each Other With a partner, please work together to read each other the sentence you created in your notebooks, and then together come up with a final list of five important key points. You can bullet point this list in each of your notebooks (a model is not provided, as I do not wish to give away answers/ key points). Students closest to the window or to Ms. Wessel’s room will share first, and then your partner. Be ready to share with the class.
