  2. Addition and Subtraction • First: Find the variable (letter) n + 2 = 12 t – 6 = 3 • Second: Identify the + or – part n + 2 = 12 n – 6 = 3 • Do the opposite operation to both sides of the = sign (bring down the answer) n + 2 = 12 t – 6 = 3 – 2 – 2+ 6 + 6 n = 10 t = 9

  3. Multiplying and Dividing • First: Find the variable (letter) 2p = 12 f/3 = 12 • Second: Identify the x and ÷ part 2p = 12 f/3 = 12 • Do the opposite operation to both sides of the = sign (bring down the answer) 2p = 12(3) f/3 = 12 (3) 2 2 p = 6 f = 36
