  1. How do I calculate cement sand quantity in 1:6mortar? ripplemart.com/blog/how-do-i-calculate-cement-sand-quantity-in-1-6-mortar.html • Most of the Structural buildings comprise 75% of brickwork, so it is essential to learn brickwork calculation. • Most of the Structural buildings comprise 75% of brickwork, so it is essential to learn brickwork calculation. • In this post we are going toexplain • Brickwork calculation • How to calculate bricks per squarefoot • How to calculate cement quantity and sand inbrickwork. • Note: • Cement mortar ratio should be 1:6 for 9” brickwork and 1:4 for 4 1/2”brickwork. • Mortar thickness should not be more than 10 mm between the courses and sides of the bricks.

  2. Calculation of BrickWork: Let us assume that the brick size is 225mm x 100mm x 75mm red brick. Any brick walls consist of bricks and cementmortar For the purpose of convention lets convert the brick size from millimetre to metres for ease of calculation. So now the converted measurements are as 0.225 m x 0.1 m x 0.75 m, and mortar thickness as0.01m. Volume of one brick without mortar = 0.225 x 0.100 x 0.075 = 0.00168 Cum. ∴Volumeofonebrickwithoutmortar=0.00168Cum(m3). Now adding 10mm thick on each side of brick as mortar thickness to find the volume of brick withmortar. Volume of 1 brick with mortar = 0.235 x 0.11 x 0.085 = 0.00219Cum ∴ Volume of 1 brick with mortar = 0.00219 Cum (m 3). Number of bricks with mortar for 1 Cum = 1/0.00219 = 456Nos ∴Sotherequirednumberofbricksfor1Cum=456Nos Volume of bricks in 1 Cum = 456 x 0.0016 = 0.729Cum To Calculate the cement Mortar Consumption for 1 Cum brick work = 1- (Volume of Bricks in 1Cum) ∴1 – 0.729 = 0.271 Cum ∴Requiredamountofcementmortar=0.271Cum(m3)–WetCondition ||Cement Consumption || Volume of the cement mortar = 0.271 Cum & ratio of Mortar is1:6 For Dry Condition: 30 - 35% of sand bulkage and 20% Wastage to be calculated for Exact Dry volume-0.2715+(0.271*35%)+(0.271*20%)=0.42(m3) [Weknow the mortarratiois1:6(1partCement&6PartSand=7Part)] Required amount Cement quantity in brickwork = 0.42 * 1/7 * 1440 =86.4Kgs ∴ (Density of Cement = 1440 Kg/m3) ∴ Required amount of cement quantity = 86.4Kgs Total No of Cement bags required are = 1.72 Bags (50 Kg perbag)

  3. Sand = (0.42*6) / 7 = 0.36 Cum(m3) • So the required material for 1 Cum brickmasonry • Cement – 1.72Bags. • Sand- 0.36 Cum(m3). • No. of Bricks - 456Nos. • You can Oder sand, bricks and cement online at www.ripplemart.comor call us on: +91- 9100903700 • Building Materials Online
