  1. Now I’ve applied- what next? • You need to use TRACK to find out which courses have offered you a place- universities will usually respond in three ways- • Conditional Offer- this depends on you achieving their grade requirements • Unconditional Offer- this means they want you on their course no matter what! • Rejected- on this occasion they are not going to offer you a place

  2. Conditional OffersYou now need to decide your firm and insurance choices from the universities that have made you offers- * Firm Choice- this is your preferred course* Insurance Choice- this is your second choice and it is wise to select a course which requires slightly lower grades than your firm choiceYou can make these selections in TRACK

  3. Unconditional Offers* If you select an unconditional offer as your FIRST CHOICE- you can not select an INSURANCE offer- this means you have chosen your course and that is where you will go.* You can select an unconditional offer as your INSURANCE OFFER after your first FIRM choice.* Although you have the security of an unconditional offer it is highly advised that you continue to work to reach your potential at A level or BTEC-This is because-* You may change your mind at some point* You will have to compete with others for future courses/employment* For a sense of reward after two years study

Deadlines for choosing coursesLook carefully in TRACK for the deadline by which you needto make your choices- it might be that the deadline you have beengiven is different to your friends- however in general- * If you met the deadline and your application was sent by January 15th* If you have all of your replies from your universities by March 31st* It is usual that UCAS expects to make your choices by May 1stThisis an important decision- so think carefully and if needed attend applicant days (preferably at the weekend please) * Once you have done so you can start to liaise with your universities about accommodation and start to organise your student finance

  5. Selecting more courses to add toyour application-If you did not apply for all 5 courses you can apply for further courses in TRACK- However as the deadline was January 15thfor applications,you should contact the university first to see if they will acceptthe late application – you will have until June 30thto do so.

  6. Late Applications to UCASIf you are still planning on making an application to UCAS you can do so and we will support your application. You should let your tutor know that is what you intend to do as soon as possible.Before applying you should contact the university you are planning to apply to, to check if they will accept late applications.You need to make a late application before June 30th.

  7. ADJUSTMENT- AVAILABLE Aug 15th- 31st For students whose results exceed that of the offer made for their firm choice- MORE DETAILS LATER- CLEARING- OPENS JULY 5th 2019- If you apply after June 30th 2019, you will go into clearing. You can also chose to go in to clearing if you did not meet the conditions of your offered course. MORE DETAILS LATER-

Applying for completely different courses-* If you have been rejected from all of your courses or you choose to decline all of your offers, you can apply through EXTRA which you can findin TRACK.* Before you take this course of action, you should talk this through with your tutor and/ or Mrs Stafford.

  9. It will be up to you to organise your finance- this is not something school can do or advise on- However on Thursday 21st March Heather Eyland from Cardiff Metropolitan University is in school to present a talk on student finance for guidance- Student finance applications are done on-line on the government website- https://www.gov.uk/student-finance-register-login The online registration for student finance for student starting courses starting in September 2019 Is not yet ready- it should become available around Feb/March time (2019).
