And, former England cricketer Graeme Swann has suggested that Maxwell’s form has decreased the pressure off from Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers – who are considered the backbone of RCB. But he’s got Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the team, and it really suits him, to be that third player who can just go out there and express himself, without having to carry the team. This suits him. He looks in a very good place, he looks very fit,” Swann said to Star Sports. Maxwell was bought by a whopping price of Rs 14.25 crore, which was shocking to many considering his form in the cash-rich league, but it was paid off as the franchise and captain Kohli put their faith in Maxwell and he didn’t break the trust of them as well. “He surprised me more than anyone. I thought it was a bonkers amount of money they spent on him in the auction. But they said‘no, he has got the strike rate in the middle, we’re backing him’. Sanjay Bangar has been the batting coach the last two times he has been among the runs. I think he feels happy, he feels relaxed. He played really good shots. He’s got his reverse hit back,” Swann further added.

While he has been a regular face in the T20 league, his poor show didn’t bring him in the limelight till date but somehow this new role for RCB where he has been fitting into has worked well for him and his swashbuckling form will play a key role in the side’s win.
