CHARLES ROBERT. CORONATION. May 1301 T he Archbishop of Esztergom , Gregory , crowned Charles Robert as Hungarian king , however Charles Robert wasn´t crowned with St. Stephen´s crown . He was crowned with an occassional crown.

  2. CORONATION • May 1301 • The Archbishop of Esztergom, Gregory, crownedCharlesRobertas Hungarianking, howeverCharlesRobertwasn´tcrownedwith St. Stephen´scrown. • He wascrownedwith an occassionalcrown.

  3. The magnates of Hungarydidn´taccepthim as king and didn´tconsiderhiscoronationvalid. • Theyclaimedthat the Hungarianking can onlybecrownedwith the HolyCrown of St. Stephen. • CharlesRobertwascrownedfor the thirdtime. • Withthe HolyCrown as CharlesI. on 27 August 1310 in Székesfehérvár.

  4. ATTACK OF BUDA • September 1302 • CharlesRobertattackedBuda, howeverhewasunsuccessful. • Becauseof this, the papal legate imposed a curse on Buda – interdiction, butitwasnotvalid.

  5. WAY TO THE THRONE • 1305 • KingVáclav II. died and hisson, Václav III. becameking of Bohemia. • The youngking had manyenemies so hesigned a peacetreatywith Albrecht and renounced the Hungarianthrone. • Ithappened in the summer of 1305 so the way to the throne of HungaryopenedforCharlesRobert.

  6. The decisivebattlebetweenCharlesRobert and AmadeAba´ssonshappened on 15 June 1312 at Rozhanovce. • Charleswith the help of the citizens of Košice defeated the Amadeclan.

  7. After the battlethesituationchanged in favour of Charles and hebecame a sovereignmonarch. • He confiscated the properties of the Amadeclan and gavethemaway to the nobility. • WiththisactCharlesfoundfavourwith most of Hungary´smiddlearistocracy.
