  4. Calaf Market • TheCalafMarket has beenanimportantmarket in Catalonia. It has got a story… Oneday, whenallthepeople of thevillagewas in thesquare, suddentlytherewas a seriouscoldweather, and allthewordsthatpeopleweresayinggotfrozen.   8. Bell Tower The bell tower is next to the church and it is 52 metres tall. It is situated in the center of Calaf The Bell Tower at night

  10. Sant Sebastià Sant Sebastià is a hill in the outskirts of Calaf. Here there is a small church and once a year people from Calaf come here to ring the bell.

  12. ·Ourschool. This is the logo of our school. Our school was founded 25 years ago. We can study ESO ( 4 years ) and Batxillerat ( 2 years ). This is our school. It has got three floors ana a library Our school has got 300 studients. Studients from Torà, Prats, Sant Martí, Pujalt... Come also to our school

  13. Alexandre de Riquer Alexandre de Riquer was born in Calaf on May 3, 1856. He died on November 13, 1920. He was an artist, designer, illustrator, painter, writer and poet. He was one of the leading figures of Modernism in Catalonia. Our school took his name to do a homage.

  14. LAUREANO FIGUEROLA. Laureano Figuerola was the inventor of ‘peseta’ (our old currency before the euro). He was born in Calaf. He was a lawyer, and a catalan politician. He founded the society book of political economy.

  15. Festivals At the end of the summer in Calaf there is a festival. In these days there is a street market (la fira de l’eix) and a street funfair.

  16. “Els Gegants” “Gegants” mean GiANT and every town has got a Gegants group. They dance a traditional dance in the streets and squares. Once a year there is a Gegants meeting in a village or town in Catalonia.

  17. The Sardanes It is our traditional dance. We dance this in our tradioional festivals

  18. Elspastorets de Calaf In Christmas time in Calaf people participates in a play that represents based on Christian religion. There are: shepherds, devils and angels.
