This study explores the examples of biblical figures who overcame challenges through their faith in God, teaching us how to recognize our faults, overcome challenges, and have confidence in our abilities. Topics covered include teaching children, admonishing others, being an example to believers and the world, and drawing strength from Christ through studying his example, word, and prayer.

I Can… • Isaiah 6:8 – “Here am I, send me!” • Isaiah, even recognizing his shortcomings (v.5), understood that he could go and speak for the Lord. • Esther 4:4-16 – “If I perish, I perish!” • Esther, despite her fear of the consequences for disrespecting the king’s court (v.11), realized she had the courage to try and save her people. I Can… • Ruth 1:14-16 – “Your God, my God.” • Ruth, despite her grief, accepted her situation, clinging to the mother of her deceased husband in sympathy and love. • Luke 1:26-28 – “Let it be to me…” • Mary, though unsettled by the supernatural means and message of the angel’s decree, accepted the path the Lord had set before her. I Can… • From these great Bible examples we learn that: • We must recognize our faults, and the challenges we face. • We must take steps to overcome them. • We must be confident in our abilities to complete the tasks set before us.
