  1. ...being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6

  2. Work in Progress • Definition of Work in Progress: Continuation of a partly-completed work towards its conclusion. • In terms of people, It means that the person is trying to better himself.  • In the christian perspective, it is God, through the Holy Spirit who does the work of making a person complete.

  3. God @ Work • God created mankind [In His Image] to be a partner with Him in the Kingdom of God • The Fall resulted in man digressing from and upsetting Gods plan. “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”Romans 3:23

  4. God @ Work Ever since, God has been reaching out to man… … From time to time God has intervened in making man better and closer to him. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. “ John 3:16

  5. The Bible talks about God’s plan for man. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord… Jeremiah 29:11 Yes He has plans for you and me  ”Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” John 1:12-13 God @ Work

  6. God @ Work • The Birth, Crucifixion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ was all part of God’s plan. This was Peter’s Testimony on the day of Pentecost. • “Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men,put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. Acts 2: 22-24

  7. The first step of accepting God’s plan is to acknowledge Jesus Christ. • Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 God @ Work

  8. Believing In Jesus Christ is just the first step. The work of God has just begun in you. • Jesus promised the Holy Spirit, a guide to complete the work of God in man. “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. John 14:15-17 Jesus also said what the role of the Holy Spirit would be. • “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. “ John 16:13 God @ Work

  9. The work of the Holy Spirit .When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment:about sin, because people do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. John 16: 8-10 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 Conviction of Sin

  10. The Holy Spirit not only knows us, but he helps us in our weakness. “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” Romans 8:26 • “No temptationhas overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be temptedbeyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 HELPS IN OUR WEAKNESS

  11. TEACHES US • The Holy Spirit works through Scripture and people to change our hearts • But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. John 14:26 “The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 1 Corinthians 2: 10 -11

  12. WORKS THROUGH PRAYER • The Holy Spirit will intercede for us through prayer. ( Romans 8:26) •  If you don’t know what to pray, ask the Holy Spirit for help.  • Oftentimes, God uses our prayers to change our hearts more than the hearts of others, to conform us to be more like him.

  13. REVEALS God’s PURPOSE FOR US • ”For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” Romans 8:14 • “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1: 13-14

  14. Work in Progress “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. “ Philippians 1:9, 10 11

  15. Work in Progress “For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. ” 2 Peter 1:5-7

  16. The Kingdom of God. A Work in Progress • “you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” 1Peter2:5

  17. The Kingdom of God. A Work in Progress • “having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” Ephesians 2:19-22

  18. Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” John 6:29
