  4. Why & how do we get in conflict situations? • Poor communication • Weak leadership • Seeking power • Dissatisfaction with management style • Lack of openness

Conflict is often needed it- • Helps to raise and address the problem • Energizes work to be on the most appropriate issues • Helps people learn how to recognize and benefit from their differences Conflict is destructive when it- • Polarizes people and groups, reducing cooperation • Hampers productivity • Lowers morals • Causes inappropriate behavior
