What is Heat? • The flow of energy from one material to another • Heat moves from warmer objects to cooler objects • Example: glass of ice warm in my hand • An insulator does not transfer heat well • Examples: glove, blubber of a whale, wood • A conductor transfers heat quickly • Example: frying pan • What is the relationship between heat and temperature? • What two scales are used to measure temperature? • How are they different?
