  1. Mission to Mars How to get food, water, air and other human essentials. By: Ava, Gigi and Edie

  2. What it is? • NASA has decided to send four people to the planet mars to create a human colony and live there. However, living on mars is not easy. Humans need food and plants can’t get energy on mars due to the fact that it is not close enough to the sun. Humans also need air, water, a place to live and be able to have good hygiene.

  3. How to Get Shelter on Mars • Building a dome is the best way to satisfy human beings. We will have a rocket ship with all the compacted pieces to build the dome. To power the LED lights we will have a treadmill that is powered by gears.. The dome will be big enough to fit all the astronauts and have extra space for science tests and other things. Since at the most it takes 3 years to travel to Mars, the rocket ship will only take up to two trips.

  4. How to Get Air and Heat on Mars • Astronauts who are living on Mars need a way to get adequate air and heat so we thought of a few ideas. If we fill the dome that build on mars with trees, then we can get air. Since trees turn carbon dioxide into air, with trees, we could fill the dome with air. We could use the LED lights to give energy to the trees. To get heat, we could place many powerful mirrors near Mars so that the sun is reflected on Mars.

  5. Food and Water • Humans will also need to get food and water. The plants can give the food. From plants people can get wheat, fresh greens and more. The surface of mars has a bit of water which we can extract. Also, we can extract a little bit of liquid from the plants.

  6. How Plants Will Make Food • Since mars does is not close enough to the sun, plants will not have enough energy to make food. We decided that the plants on mars would have to get their energy from LED lights. Since LED lights are strong and only need a small amount of energy to work, they are perfect for mars. We can power the LED lights by using a treadmill. This way, the astronauts can also exercise.

  7. Health Habits • While on mars, humans must be able to engage in good health habits. Humans must also be able to stay fit. To bathe, we thought about designing a new bathtub. The bathtub will look like a normal one but with a metal top over it. People will put their bodies in the bathtub with their heads outside of the metal. This way, the gravity will not keep people from having good health habits. To stay fit, humans can run on the treadmill. This way humans can power the LED lights while exercising!

  8. The Mars Colony • For the good of the population, humans must work together. Once more and more people get sent up to Mars, we will be able to form a colony. That means that we can populate and support ourselves and others on Mars. To do that we must all work together and accept each other.
