Holistic approach to rural development • Food security and food crisis • Trade and development • Environment and climate change • Aid effectiveness and rural governance • Migration and development • Health and safety in agriculture • Cross-cutting issues: gender, ICTs for development, research, youth

  7. Objectives of this Briefing • To raise awareness on key challenges • To promote exchange of information and expertise • To feed in the debate by bringing various perspectives

Moderator: Jean-Pierre Boris, Journalist, Commodities specialist, RFI Panel 1: New challenges in the global food system and ACP agricultures This session will review the complexity of the global food system in the context of the crises, the effects of climate change, the global agricultural and trade policies and the consequences for the ACP agriculture and small farmers.

  9. Panel 2: What policy options and future governance to secure food for all? This panel will explore how will farming systems be in future, especially in ACP countries and the policy actions and changes able to promote food security and resilient food systems that generate growth in the poorest countries while protecting and empowering small-scale farmers

  10. Target group 200 ACP-EU policy makers, representatives of EU and ACP Member States, European Parliament, civil society groups, researchers and development practitioners, international organisations based in Brussels and some ACP researchers and farmers coming from ACP countries.
