  3. By now, you’ve had some instruction on how to read customer drawings. You’re starting to get an idea of what our customer expects us to deliver. So, how do we know that our product will meet our customer’s specifications? We use micrometers and other measuring instruments to determine if our product is to print.

  4. Features of the Micrometer • Body – Houses the components • Splines – Used to measure part • Dial – Used to turn splines • Digital Readout – Indicates reading • Zero Button – Zero’s micrometer

  7. In the following slide, you will see an operator place the crimp between the splines. He will then turn the large dial down until just before the splines make contact. He then turns the small dial in until he hears 3 clicks (listen closely for the 3 clicks in the video).
