  1. Discover Britain: The Southwest Work made by: Bykova Anna Form: 7th A School: English School № 525

  2. Farming • The Southwest is one of the regions of England. It is the region where the main activity is farming. The are some very big farms, most of them are small family farms where daily products are produced. • Actually, farmers from the Southwest invented new kind of sheep, named «Exlana». These sheep don't need in a haircutting, because in spring their wool peels by itself. They are also more clean, because they don’t need chemicals for haircutting.

  3. The Pirates of The Southwest • The Southwest used to be known for its pirates. The romantic past makes it a popular place for artist, writers and holidaymakers. In the 15 century pirates marauded in the English Channel. The Queen Elisabeth decided to use them in external wars, but when pirates understood, that it is not very profitably to be a soldier, they became pirates again. Then they went to the North of England, to The Lake District, to find famous gold deposits «El-Dorado».

  4. Cities in the Southwest • There are 16 shires, many cities and resorts. The three principal cities are Bristol, Bath and Plymouth. • Plymouth is famous for its car factory. In the 2nd World War these cars used as a vehicle for English military. • Bath is famous for its Romans Thermal Wellspring, the temperature here is near 46 degrees. From November till April many tourists visit it for treatmentof rheumatism. • Bristol is the main resort in the Southwest. Many tourists and holidaymakers spend their holidays here.

  5. The Stonehenge • The most popular attraction in the Southwest is the Stonehenge. Scientists think that it was the Roman’s altar or it was built because of Merlin and Druids, it also could be an old observatory. Maybe it was the massage from the space.

  6. The Land’s End • The most westerly point, Land’s End, is also here. It is in the Cornish Peninsula. Here you can see a fantastic view to the Atlantic ocean, Longships Lights, Lighthouses and so on. It is an interesting place for painters, writers, tourist, holidaymakers.

  7. England is fantastic country. It has existed for millions of years. It has different people, scenery and cities. It has its interesting which is very interesting to explore.
