  1. e-LEARNING ICT EXHIBITION ADVOCACY

VISION • Educators will be enabled to realise the GDE vision of Developing citizens who are critical and active lifelong learners: “e-Citizens” • Educators will be enabled to use ICTs confidently and creatively to help develop the skills and knowledge they need to achieve personal goals and to be full participants in the global community. • .   3. INTRODUCTON • The purpose of this meeting is to inform schools about the e-Learning ICT Exhibition and to highlight its benefits.

  4. BACKGROUND • To host the e-Learning ICT Exhibition targeting the GET and the FET schools in the Province, for the week 08 - 12 March 2010. • A total number of 2500 schools are expected to attend over five days, i.e. 1400 Primary Schools & 900 Secondary Schools.

  5. PROJECT OBJECTIVES To raise an awareness about the available ICTs/ e-Resources for teaching and learning. To transfer skills on the use of ICTs to educators for optimum educator performance. To promote the integration of ICTs into the curriculum to enhance the delivery of teaching and learning.

  6. PROJECT FORMAT • ICT Exhibitions • Hands - on Workshops, presentations, demonstrations • Innovative Workshops

  7. VENUE The e-Learning ICT Exhibition will be held at Turffontein Racecourse. There will be different areas for hands-on and innovative workshops. The ICT expo will start on 08 – 12 March 2010. The venue will be opened from 09H00 – 15H00. The venue will be opened from 09H00 – 15H00.

  8. LOGISTICS • A map to Turffontein Racecourse will be attached to the invitation cards that will be sent to schools. • All visitors will enter through the Turfclub Road entrance. • Parking has been allocated next to the entrance.

  9. ICT EXHIBITORS • Different educational ICT companies have been invited to exhibit. • Exhibitors will conduct hands - on workshops to mediate the approved software which be on the catalogue.

  10. ICT EXHIBITIONS • With the ICT exhibition the e-Learning Directorate hopes to highlight and expose the available digital content to enable optimal integration of ICTs across the curriculum, to enhance teaching and learning. • It is envisaged that educators will be encouraged to use ICTs for their personal development and institution wide development needs.

  11. HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS Educators will: • Gain hands-on experience on the use of ICTs. • Gain understanding on how they can integrate them into different learning areas/ subjects. • Share expertise and experiences on the use of ICTs.

  12. ICT EXHIBITION AND WORKSHOPS SCHEDULE (Cont) Workshops will be conducted through parallel sessions (reflected on the electronic notice board). Project Team members to monitor and direct the workshop processes.

  13. CLUSTERING OF DISTRICTS MONDAY: JC; EN; TS TUESDAY: JE; GE; TW WEDNESDAY: JN; SE; GN THURSDAY: JW; GW; TN FRIDAY: JS; SW; ES

  14. ATTENDANCE • Schools have been clustered according to their districts, i.e. 3 districts will attend per day. • Schools are requested to attend on the days that are allocated to their Districts in order to avoid overcrowding.

  15. DELEGATES TO BE INVITED Five delegates will be invited per school, per day i.e. (1 Principal; 1 SGB member; & 3 educators). A total number of 2 500 delegates per day are expected to attend.

  16. FOOD STALLS AND VENDORS The venue will organize food stalls and vendors to sell food and refreshments to schools, exhibitors and the public, since we will not be catering for them due to budgetary constraints.

  17. CONCLUSION Lets work together to make a difference not only in our lives but in the lives of all those we are serving ( Learners, Parents, Colleagues and our Communities).
