  6. Roman Art • Influenced by the Greeks • “Greco-Roman” • Lifelike busts and statues • Murals, Mosaics, Frescoes • Blown glass • Cameo • Influenced many Renaissance artists

  8. Mosaics – picture made of small pieces of tile, glass, or stone

  9. Frescoes – paining on moist plaster of wall or ceiling

  10. Cameo – carved decoration showing portrait or scene

  11. Roman Architecture and Engineering • Vault – arched structure used to hold up a roof • Dome – a roof shaped like a half-circle • Stadiums • Cathedrals • Arch • Roads • Aqueducts – a pipe or channel built to carry water between places

Law and Citizenship • Roman law and justice influenced France Italy and America • Law influenced by nature • Everyone had rights • Declaration of Independence taken from this • Citizenship • Citizenship to all free people of the Empire • Must obey laws and swear allegiance in return for same rights
