  3. IDEA • Replace Laminated EPZ Map • Update Wind Arrow & Velcro Adherence System • Single Interface for Displaying Static & Dynamic data • Share Data & Displays Between Multiple Locations • Simple Operation

Integrated Response Application Gateway for display of emergency information • Combine existing data sources & displays • Primary display mode would be EPZ Map • Add/remove layers from map with checkboxes • Menus and tabs for other functionality (e.g. plant diagrams, ERDS) • Click map to see underlying data or information i.e. samples, field monitoring data or restaurant menus • Provide foundation to incorporate future data sources

Data Layers • Emergency facilities –EOCs, reception centers, schools, daycare facilities • Facility manned/activated? • Sirens & route alerting • Siren(s) status? • Emergency Response Planning Areas (ERPA’s) • Population distribution • Evacuation routes, Access Control Points, bus routes • Transit dependent individuals/special populations • Agricultural database • Field monitoring routes & locations

  6. Dynamic Data Sources • Field monitoring vehicle • Meteorology • Impacted area(s) • Plume - interface with dose model(s) • Fixed monitoring sites (7) • Sample database • Emergency worker exposure/dose tracking • DOE information (projections, flyovers etc.)

  7. Implementation • Unsuccessful attempt with outside Vendor • proposed cost was a significant issue • Began to explore in-house options • Simplified proposed system – “baby steps”

  8. DEMA Implementation • IT Staff already actively involved with REP Program • IT familiar with ARC GIS Products • ARC GIS Product licensing already in place • Additional GIS expertise available from U of Delaware

  9. DEMA GIS Plan: Parallel operation with • User Interface utilizing Google Earth • Assessment component with ARC GIS • Data shared between the two applications

  10. Google Earth • Google Earth provides a simple, intuitive & familiar interface for users • Web based – display can be accessed anywhere • Free • Software maintained & upgraded by others • Limited data evaluation/manipulation • Pro version ($) allows direct access to data files

  11. ARC GIS • Great variety of tools available • Provides significant assessment capabilities • Requires expertise to fully access features • User interface more complex

  12. Current Plan • Develop user interface with Google Earth • Purchase Google Earth Pro • Develop databases – web based data entry? • Sample tracking/laboratory • Emergency worker monitoring • Agriculture & land use • Test & refine during upcoming drills

  13. Future • Integrate real time data sources • Resource management • Field monitoring – automate data collection and transmission • Sample tracking via barcodes or RFID • Emergency worker monitoring • Traffic control & evacuation monitoring
