A Letter of Thanks This months edition of Events News sees a letter of thanks to some people who have helped to keep the spirit of Judo alive and assisted in running a club at a time of great need. Dear Editor, I just thought I would drop a line for the newsletter to say thank-you to some very good friends in the British Judo Association, North West Area. The British Judo Association fraternity has always been a friendly group of people to be with. But since Christmas, having being diagnosed with a very bad hernia, I have needed these friends. Since the operation, I have been unable to coach at my club, Todmorden Judo Club, and have been inviting guest coaches; Graham Heaton (4th Dan - Warrington Judo Club), Roy Berry (1st Dan), Dave Duffy (3rd Dan - Rochdale Judo Club) and Bob Cheetham (Raven Judo Club). My thanks go to each of these coaches and may this kind of helpfulness carry on throughout the British Judo Association. Yours Sincerely, Chris Boggis Todmorden Judo Club Referee/Officials Course There will be a course held on Saturday 15th May for anyone wishing to become a Referee or Table Official. The course is free and will be held at SKK Judo Club. For more information, please contact Ann Bayley on 01925 639301. Blind Date How many of you spotted Sami? As reported in the March edition of Events News, Sami was going to appear on Blind Date. Sami was one of three girls hoping to be selected and, she did it. Hope you had a good day Sami - shame we couldn’t get hold of some pictures !!! Lakeland Open This years Lakeland Open Championships is due to take place on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd August 1999.
