  1. CEN DSRC/ITS G5 Coexistence AdHocgroup– An overview – CEN DSRC – ITS G5 Coexistence Workshop - Presented by FriedbertBerens, in Ispra, Italy CoEx_AdHoc– An Overview -

  2. Index • Status and time schedule • Scenario definition: • Initial parameters and assumptions • Measurement Campaign Ispra, July 2011 ITS-WG4 Coexistence Ad-Hoc: Overview

  3. Goals • To evaluate the realistic interference potential between CEN DSRC and ITS G5 systems by • Measurements • Simulations and • Theoretical investigations • To define typical inter-system operational scenarios including traffic density, penetration rate, communication protocols and operational constrains • To propose potentially required mitigation techniques to minimize • The potential interference risk between the systems and • the complexity of the implementation on the ITS side ITS-WG4 Coexistence Ad-Hoc: Overview

  4. Coexistences AdHoc Activities and Status • Create an evaluation ad-hoc group as part of TC ITS WG4 • NWI DTR/ITS-0040029 approved and active (28.04.2011) • Prepare and perform evaluation measurements • Set up simulations to evaluate the interference potential between a normal ITS system and a CEN DSRC OBU  Initial results available • ETSI TR 102 960: draft version 0.0.4 available with main focus on measurement setup • If needed put the co-existence methods into TS 102 792 and EN 302 571 ITS-WG4 Coexistence Ad-Hoc: Overview

  5. Time schedule • Ad-Hoc group: operational • Define evaluation scenarios for initial simulations and measurements  End May 2011  Done • Initial Simulation results ready  End June 2011  Done • Evaluation Measurement event JRC in Ispra 4.July to 8. July 2011 • TR 102 960 with simulation results and measurement results ready until September 2011 • Early draft available with version 0.0.4 • Inclusion of results into the TS 102 792 ready  October ITS meeting • End 2011 approved TR 102 960 and TS 102 792 ITS-WG4 Coexistence Ad-Hoc: Overview

  6. Scenario Definition • Input parameter: • Number of Road Tolling stations in Europe • Size of tolling stations: • Number of tracksincluding geometric data • Traffic density and distribution • Free-flow installation • Speed distribution of vehicles • ITS-G5 penetration rate projections • ITS-G5 traffic patterns • Part of the parameters are available and included in TR102 960 ITS-WG4 Coexistence Ad-Hoc: Overview

  7. Draft Parameters for scenario definition • Maximum Number of lanes in Free flow systems: 6 in both directions • Maximum Speed: vmax = 120km/h • Distance between vehicles at max speed: dmin = 25m • Maximum Transaction time: Ttrans_max = 120ms • Car attenuation to be taken into account into the measurements • Initial values: Front attenuation: 3dB, Backwards: > 15dB, Side: 10dB ITS-WG4 Coexistence Ad-Hoc: Overview

  8. Simulation • Simulation tools • SEAMCAT • KAPSCH simulator • SEAMCAT: • Interference simulator used by CEPT • Reference simulator for most interference investigations • Initial simulation are ready for worst case scenario with ITS interference from the front with 100% duty cycle • Kapsch simulator: • Evaluation of interference area and conditions • Parameter: Traffic density and speed ITS-WG4 Coexistence Ad-Hoc: Overview

  9. Evaluation Measurements • Event at the JRC in ISPRA, Italy • Date: 4. July to 8. July 2011 • Schedule: • Monday, 04.July: Workshop • Tuesday 5. July to 7. July: Measurements -> Limited participation • Friday 8. July: Wrap-up and initial minutes preparation (Special measurements if needed) • Web site: http://www.etsi.org/plugtests/ITSG5_DSRC/Home.htm ITS-WG4 Coexistence Ad-Hoc: Overview
