    6. Sample (based on Tylers thesis) In the novel, The Things They Carried, Tim OBrien portrays the struggles that young soldiers faced during the Vietnam War. His novel is part autobiographical, part fiction, weaving his own experience into a realistic blend of stories. All of the stories focus on a platoon of young soldiers and their work during the war. Several stories depict reoccurring struggles, such as dealing with the death of Ted Lavender and the burden of guilt carried by Lieutenant Jimmy Cross. OBrien also reflects on his own struggle and inability to cope with death as a soldier and young man. OBriens message is against the war, showing that these soldiers are just too young to handle the difficulty of war. OBrien proves that facing death forces a maturity that soldiers are just not capable of handling.

    7. Conclusion..2nd-3rd sentence Any lasting idea your reader should walk away with from your paper

    8. Conclusion.last sentence! So what/ Leave your reader thinking. For example: If you are making this huge statement about war, what should the reader understand about the effects of war? Or, what should this country do differently when facing war? Think big here.

    9. Conclusion..Sample These young soldiers were not ready for war, and were forever effected by the acts that they were forced to do and the resulting death they encountered. Cross. OBrienLavender.(sentence about each). Clearly, OBriens novel is a message against forcing young men into war. The men in his story were not ready, and should lead the reader to question whether any young man is ever ready for the trials of war.
