  1. Edinburgh By Wen Jing Cho 1. Location Edinburgh is located in the south-eastern area of Scotland. It is a visual delight, built on a grand scale around two hills within the city. There has been evidence of settlements in the area since the Bronze Age, and it has survived until now as the capital of Scotland. 2. Interesting areas in the city Some of the places of interest in the city include: Calton Hill houses the National Monument and the Nelson Memorial, and offers great views of the city and Arthur Seat, which is an extinct volcano that is now in a national park. Edinburgh Castle is built upon a hill, Castle Rock, in the Old Town. It was built as a fortress and now graces the end of the Royal Mile that leads up the hill to it. The castle is the most visited paid attraction in Scotland today. The Scott Memorial in Princes Street Gardens honours Sir Walter Scott, an early literary genius who wrote many famous plays and novels in his lifetime. • 3. What to do in Edinburgh • Walk down Rose Street, a hidden street behind Princes Street • Admire the lush greenery of the Water of Leith Walkway • Travel to Queensferry to see the Forth Bridge • Try Haggis, Neeps and Tatties • Walk along the Royal Mile to the Edinburgh Castle • Picnic in the sun at Princes St Gardens 4. References Masters, T. (2009) Europe on a shoestring, China; Lonely Planet Publications. 5.Acknowledgements I would like to thank my parents, David and Evelyn Cho, for their permission to go on this trip and for making everything possible, as well as the people in Edinburgh who helped me along.
