  2. Basic schools • We‘ve got 9-classes basic schools in our country. • You study heresince 6 yearsold (in somecasessince 5 or 7 yearsold) • Basic schooliscompulsoryforus

  3. Highschools • We´ve gotseveraltypessofhighschools: training college, highschool, grammarschooland lyceum • Study athighschoolsis 3-5 years. • The student receives a vocationalcertificateorgraduation on theendof study. • A graduationisneeded to a college education.

  4. Universities • The most famous university in theCzechRepublicis Karlova univerzita in Prague. • Nextwell-known university is Masarykova univerzita in Brno. • Except these biggestuniversitieswehavegototherones in smallertowns.

  5. OurgymnaziumBasic information • We have got about 7 hours a day. • Once a week, we have got afternoon lessons. • Weare studyingin a humanities section of gymnazium, sowehavegot more hours of languages, history and social science than the natural science section or computer programming section. • Biology, chemistry and physics wehave got only twice a week. But humanities we’veat least three times a week...

From the third year of study, we will choose several seminars and elective courses. • Now, in the first year, we have got only classic subjects, such as Czech language, math, history, natural sciences, English and another language. • We had a choice of three others languages – German, Russian and French. I chose French. • From the second year of study we will have Latin.

  7. Catering • We have a school cafeteria in our school • We can choose between 3 main meals for lunch. One is vegetarian, one with meat and one special. • For sandwiches we have got a snack bar.

  8. Schoolandafterschoolactivities • We have the opportunity to attend some activities, organized by the school – drama club, microscopy club, aquarium club… • But most of us hasother interests – sports, games, etc.
