Aim of the H-net survey • To describe the self-assessed competence profile of junior specialists in hematology who have • finished training <9 years • performed >75% of the training in the country in question • Anonymized results • Competence defined as at or above passport recommendation • To provide “maps” of individual countries as well as a European overview

  6. Types of sample representativeness Respondents identified by the National representatives: • All (national registries) • All who agreed to submit email address to project • Broad cohort obtained by other registries • Other selections

  8. Data cleaning and analysis • Step 1: Country of specialist training. • Step 2: Answer patterns; straight lining. • Step 3: Adding equal weight to each country • Step 4: Computing new variables on subsection level • May 3, 2010 • N=222 • N=192 after cleaning

  9. Results: Demographics Median age: 37 years (range 28 – 58) Median total training time: 7.5 years (2.0 – 17.5) Median training time in hematology: 5.4 years (1.3 – 8.3)
