  10. Visibility Monitoring/Alert System Task:Develop low cost systems to allow our TMC operators to quantify sight restrictions due to fog, smoke, heavy rain, or a combination of all the above / And additional ways to advise customers of these conditions

  11. Visibility Assessment Markers • Place markers at 300, 600, and 1000 feet from select cameras in fog prone areas as well as control burn areas which will allow operators to advise FHP and others of reduced visibility. • One set per 10 miles in rural sections

  12. Visibility Assessment Markers

  13. Visibility Assessment Markers

  14. C.B. Radio Alert System • Two Test Locations: • Turkey Lake Service Plaza at milepost 263 • Turnpike and I-95 at milepost 152 • System Uses Voice-over-IP (VoIP) Technology to Send Audio • System Uses “Off the Shelf” CB Radio • Connected From TMC to Test Locations Over Turnpike ITS Fiber Network • Broadcast Range of 5 to 15 Miles Depending on Conditions and Antenna Height

  15. C.B. Radio Alert System 18' antenna is mounted at the top of selected camera poles. The height from the ground to the top of the antenna is no more than 60'. A power supply, an “off the shelf” CB radio, and a radio controller are the components inside of the cabinet on the camera pole
