  1. MEET WITH THE GUIDANCE COUNSELOR

  2. During the month of April, you will be meeting with your Guidance Counselor. We will be reviewing your Graduation Plan and Career Pathways. Please take the time to consider which Career Pathway you would like to take. We have posted the Career Pathways on Home Access, Student Access and the NGC Counselor’s webpage.
  3. Endorsements Cedar Hill ISD has 5 endorsements. All the electives offered fit into one of the five. STEM Business & Industry Arts & Humanities Public Services Multi-Disciplinary Studies
  4. Pathways Within each of the endorsements, there are pathways. Public Services: Education& Training Health Science Human Services Law, Public Safety, Corrections& Security Business and Industry: Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources Arts, A/V Technology & Communications Business Management & Administration Finance Hospitality and Tourism Information Technology Manufacturing Marketing Transportation, Distribution &Logistics
  5. Pathways STEM Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Arts & Humanities Fine Arts Multidisciplinary Combination of the pathways
  6. For example: If you want to be a Teacher that means you will follow the Education and Training Pathway under the Public Services Endorsement, and that means you have to go to a 4- year college. (You can choose from these Electives over the 4 years in high school) Professional Communications (.5) Business Information Management I (1) Principles of Education & Training (.5) Child Development (.5) Instructional Practices in Education & Training (2) Child Guidance (.5) Lifetime Nutrition and Wellness (.5) Ready, Set, Teach 1 Practicum in Education & Training (Ready, Set, Teach 2) (2) Practicum in Human Services (2)
  7. Another Example What career do you want? Chef That means you will follow the Hospitality and Tourism Pathway under the Business & Industry Endorsement. You have to go to a Technical College that offers a degree in Culinary Arts.

That means I will have to attend a __________________(type of training)

  21. More examples: What career do I want? Gynecologist Youwill go into the Health Science Pathway under the Public Services Endorsement, and you have to go to a 4- year college.

  23. Your Plan When you are meeting with your Guidance Counselor, you will select your graduation plan and career pathway. Once you select the career pathway, that determines the courses that you take for the next three years.
