  2. When can I use my digital devices during school? • Before School • During passing time • In the cafeteria • After school • In the classroom with teacher permission.

Expectations for using Digital Devices in the Hallways and Cafeteria • Students may use their devices in the hallway and cafeteria to check text messages and listen to music with ear buds. • All ear buds should be kept at a level that announcements can still be heard. • The camera/video function is not allowed. • Failure to follow expectations could result in loss of privilege.

  4. Using Digital Devices in the Classroom • Students may use digital devices in classrooms as a tool for learning with teacher permission. • Not following classroom expectations regarding digital devices could result in loss of privilege and/or consequences.

  5. Where should I not be using my Digital Devices during school? • Restrooms • Locker rooms • Classroom when permission has not been given. • During fire and tornado drills/emergencies.

  7. Questions and Answers Question What do I do if I think I am getting a text message? Answer • Before /After School: Check it out. • During passing/lunch: Check it out. • In Class: leave it alone until class is over. • In Restroom or locker room: you may not use your phone

Answer • Always keep your phone on silent during the day. • Apologize to the teacher for the disruption. • Be prepared to have phone taken or lose privilege if this causes a major disruption or if it becomes a pattern.

Answer • Students are responsible for all digital devices brought to school. • Keep devices secured and in personal possession. • Do not share, do not leave on desk, do not let friends use device. • Follow digital use expectations while at school.

Answer • Make sure you did not leave it in your locker, back pack or at home. • Report this to your teacher and to the office. • Office will notify you if your device is found or turned in. • Theft will result in suspension. Students’ parent may file police report.

Answer • If this is part of a school project, with teacher permission, and if the video is appropriate then it is okay. • School is a closed and secured environment where taking pictures and videos without school adult permission and supervision is not acceptable. • Students may not use their digital devices in the restrooms or locker rooms due to privacy issues.

  13. Reminders • Using digital devices in hallway during passing time can be distracting. Manage your time well to avoid being tardy or loss of privileges. • Be caring and principled in conversations on cell phones. • Use of digital devices is a privilege that can be taken away if the privilege is abused.
