  2. Project Overview This week, second graders will meet with the 5th graders to choose the present community leaders to portray in the video. Filming will take place at Columbus East High School on October 28th and October 31st. Students will find out their role in the video on October 24th .

Monday • Open your reading text to page 113 and discuss the Talk About It Question “Why do you think many people move to America?” • Then read, “My New Home” to learn your new vocabulary words on pages 114 and 115. 2. Tuesday • Read the story, “My Name is Yoon” together as a group. Discuss the vocabulary as you read. Identify the characters, setting, and main idea. 3. Wednesday • Finish reading “My Name is Yoon.” Project Connection American citizens Home

Writing“Leadership PowerPoint” Skills and Standards 2.4.1- create a list of leaders 2.4.2- focus on idea in writing 2.4.5- use a computer to draft 2.5.1- write brief narrative Noise Level 1 • This week you will finish your PowerPoint on your leader for the 5th graders to check. • Be sure you PowerPoint includes details about how your leader shows leadership in our community and why they should be included in the video for Camp Atterbury on Veteran’s Day. • Be sure you PowerPoint has complete sentences, correct grammar, details, color, and pictures! • Your presentation is on Wednesday to the 5th Graders! • Materials Needed • Writing Journal • Computer • PowerPoint • Information on leader Project Connection: Leadership Citizenship Home

Self-Selected Reading / Accelerated Reader Skills and Standards 2.1.6- Read fluently 2.2.5- Restate facts and recall information SSR and AR points Noise Level 0 • Choose a library book or a book of choice that you have not read. • Be sure you picked a book that you can read alone. • Silently read . • After you finish your book, write the name of the book in your Data Binder. • Be sure to fill in the information about your book in your binder. • If you can answer all the questions in your Data Binder, get your laptop and log on to AR to take your test. • Record your AR score in your Data Binder. . • Materials Needed • Data binder • Book of choice • Computer What will happen if… I don’t get it.
