What is ITES?Information and Technology Essential Standards • The ITES are to be embedded within all areas of the other curriculum, • Classroom teachers are responsible for teaching the new ITES standards beginning in 2011-12. • Media Coordinators and Technology Facilitators, as ITES content experts, will collaborate with teachers to plan, create, teach, and assess effective student instruction. • The ITES must be taught in all NC schools – in places where technology is prevalent as well as in schools with limited technology access. • Technology and information tools and resources must be taught and used in authentic ways.

JigSaw Activity • Each group will be given one of the “Fast Facts” about ITES. • Each group’s task is to discuss this statement, come to consensus about what it means, and describe an example of what this looks like. • Each group will conclude this activity by sharing their learning with the whole group.
Jigsaw Tasks • 1 minute to move to groups • 1minute to select leader, timekeeper, reporter, speaker • 5 minutes to discuss strand • 2 minutes to formulate definition • 2 minutes to formulate example • 2 minutes to formulate instructional changes • 2 minutes as time to report
