  1. The Life of Hanuman

  2. Hanuman is the monkey deity renowned for his courage, power and faithful, selfless service. He is beloved to be the 11th incarnation of Lord Shiva. Hello Namaste, Jai Shri Krishna Jai Shri Ram and Jai Hanuman My name is Jaina Ashokbhai Mistry. I will be showing some of the important part of Hanuman’s Life in the form of short illustrated slides.

  3. Hanuman is the son of Anjana, a female Apsara who had been transformed into a monkey by a curse, and Vayu, the wind god. It is also said that from his father Vayu Hanuman learnt the ability to fly. Whilst Hanuman was young, once he caught sight of the Sun and thought it was a big Mango Fruit so he leapt after it. The Sun tried to run away but Hanuman chased him all the way to Indra's heaven, where Hanuman was punched in his jaw.

  4. Hanuman possessed the power of being a Giant or a Midget at will, which he used to defeat Ravan. To reach the Lanka Hanuman had to fly over the sea but was blocked by Sursa. She had a boon that anyone visiting Lanka must pass through her mouth! Hanuman had to obey the rule, and she tried to swallow him. Hanuman immediately turned Giant. Sursa was forced to become as big as Hanuman. In the end Hanuman suddenly turned into a tiny Midget and went in through her ear, and came out from her mouth.

  5. Hanuman reached Ashokvatika in Lanka and met Sita in the gardens of Ravana's palace. He gave her Rama's signet ring as a token and told her of the plans to release her. Later on Hanuman fought with demon Meghnaath, son of Ravan, in the gardens of the palace of Lanka. He won over Meghnaath, but was finally captured by Ravana's demons.

  6. Hanuman faced the demon king, Ravan who ordered his solders to cover his tail with cloths & oil and set fire to it. Hanuman used his powers and enlarged his tail indefinitely, until the demons ran out of clothes. When they tried to put fire to his tail, Hanuman suddenly became a midget and escaped from his ropes.

  7. Trailing his burning tail behind him, Hanuman then set fire to the whole of Lanka and flew back to the mainland. He rejoined Shri Ram and gave him the valuable information about Sita During the mighty battle, Hanuman defeated the Demon Lankini, who was the principal guard of the city of Lanka.

  8. During the battle Laxman was injured from a fatal wound. Hanuman flew all the way to the Himalayas to find the herb to cure Laxman of his wounds. Indra confused him about the herbs. As Hanuman could not make his mind up he decided to bring the entire mountain to Lanka.

  9. Ravan was defeated by Ram in the end and Ram and Sita were crowned as the King and Queen of Ayodhya. Hanuman remained Ram's favourite general and continued his life in service to him. Jai Shri Hanuman
