LiveWell Initiative LWI: Who We Are • Location: Lagos, Nigeria • Mission Statement: To improve the health status of the people through wellness promotion and health-empowerment and thereby positively influence their health-seeking behaviour. • LWI is a health promotion and empowerment non-governmental organization which has outreached over 1.5 million Nigerians and over 3000 Ghanaians with free health empowerment and free health services www.livewellng.org

Amuwo Odofin, with a population of 1.5m, is one of the 57 Local Government Councils that make up Lagos State , which was created out of the old Amuwo Odofin Local Government on 27 th October, 2003. CHIP Project Selection • Summary of Project: To improve attendance at the Birthing Centre at Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area and thus reduce maternal mortality significantly • Critical Issues the Project Addresses: • ‘Birthing’ attendance at the Health Centre • High maternal mortality rates • How does your organization fit in? • Educate and sensitize the women • Motivate and incentivise the Community • Why is this project an opportunity for you? • Will allow LWI to pave the way to greater healthcare access for the women • Help reduce maternal mortality • Both in line with our Mission Statement www.livewellng.org

The CHIP • Goal: To improve ‘Birthing’ attendance at AmuwoOdofin Health Centre and thus reduce maternal mortality significantly at the Local Government Area.  • Process Objective: • The process objective is to improve perception of Health Centre workers by the Community to 70% by June 2013 • To enlist Community buy-in measured by endorsement • To train at least 20 Community Members as 'birthing centre advocates' by Dec 2013 • Outcome Objective: The outcome objective is to improve the number of births at the health centre to 40% by June 2014 from the current baseline of 10%. www.livewellng.org
