CCD At A Glance • Colorado Legislature created CCD in 1967, opened its door in 1970 and moved to current Auraria Campus location in 1975 • CCD has campuses: Auraria and Lowry Health Sciences • CCD Offers over 100 degrees and certificate programs. • Average of 16,000 students enrolled annually • CCD has the most diverse student population of any higher education institution in the state.

Admissions, Registration, and Record Offices • South Classroom (SO) 133: • Turn in your official college and transcripts and residency information here • File your graduation plans here • Registration and enrollment information • International Student admissions and advising • Veterans Affairs • Inter-institutional registration

Financial Aid Office • At South Classroom, Room 135 • Turn in your verification forms for FAFSA • Income verification for other social service agencies • College work study program—position availability • Tracking of academic progress for graduation purposes (Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements)

Testing Center • Assessment for college course entry •  Mandatory Placement Law (HB 1464) • Information on preparing for the Basic Skills Assessment Test (BSAT)at CCD • Study guides available at http://www.ccd.edu/Testing/Study-Guide.aspx. • Students have an unlimited amount of time when testing. • Students will test in the following sections: Reading, English, and Math. • Re-test Policy: The test is free if you have not assessed. Students have the option of re-testing.

  9. Testing Center Continued • You may be EXEMPT from taking the placement test, if you have sufficient ACT/SAT scores, or prior college transcripts. Go to http://www.ccd.edu/Testing/BSAT.aspx for more information. • ACT scores of 17 in Reading, 18 in English, and 19 in Math, OR minimum SAT scores of 430 in the verbal area for Reading, 440 in verbal area for English and 460 in the math area. • Instructional Class testing for retakes, Online exams, and make-up exams • CLEP testing offered. Find out more by visiting http://www.ccd.edu/Testing/CLEP-DSST.aspx .  We strongly recommend you prepare for the placement test before you take the test! This will ensure that you are properly placed into college courses at your current level.

  11. Center for Persons with DisabilitiesSouth 134 CCD offers disability support services through the Center for Persons with Disabilities (CPD.) You may also contact the CPD staff by telephone to make an appointment: (303) 556-3300. Examples of service may include: note takers, software for visually impaired students, sign interpreters, special testing environment, and more. Disabilities must be documented with the CPD.

CASA: DenverTransfer Initiative (DTI) • On 9th Street NP104: • Case management for students planning to transfer to University of Colorado Denver • Special workshops and tutoring and academic support • Career planning and coaching • Scholarship Assistance and Financial Aid assistance • Peer mentoring (CCD grad at UCD) • Learning Communities • DTI is a Title V program that encourages Hispanic and low income students to transfer and complete Bachelor’s Degree

  34. CCD Student Code of Conduct Community College of Denver has policies and standards that help students know what to expect of CCD, and what CCD expects of them. All CCD students need to be familiar with the rules and their own rights. Classroom expectations • Buy your books the first week of classes if not sooner (Book lending library opens Wednesday before semester begins) • Come to class on time and regularly • Turn off cell phones during class—no texting in class! • Activate, check and use your student e-mail • Get help early in the semester • Read your syllabi and plan out your semester • In class, participate appropriately and be respectful • Be open to new ideas and approaches to learning • Follow a degree plan • Be responsible for yourself
