Really Want Salvation Like Thief On The Cross? • Want to be convicted of crime & die for it? • Want to be crucified on a cross? • Want to suffer death just after salvation? • Want to be saved only if Christ in the flesh directly pronounces such toyou? • No, just want the good part of salvation without suffering or doing anything

You Sure Thief Not Baptized? • Thief had knowledge of coming kingdom –Why? • Lived through time of John’s baptism • John’s baptism commanded at time (Lk. 3:2f) • Matt. 3:5f All Judea & area came to John • Mark 1:5 Judea & Jerusalem baptized • Luke 7:29 People & publicans baptized • Matt. 21:26 Multitude held John as prophet • Do not know whether thief was one of multitude that was baptized or not • Going against the odds to say he was not

Christ’s Baptism Commanded After Death of Thief • Testament of Christ could only take effect after His death (Heb. 9:17) • Great Commission given after thief was dead (Mark 16:15-16; Matt. 28:18-19) • Gospel first preached in Jerusalem on Pentecost (Acts 1:8-- Acts 2:1-41) • Baptism in name of Christ first preached then (Acts 2:38) • Thief on the cross was dead 50 days before • Baptism in name of Lord essential in gospel
