  6. Heritage Memoir A memoir is an account of a particular, meaningful event in one’s life. It’s a brief snapshot; a moment of importance that you would include in your autobiography.

Memoir Characteristics • Focuses and reflects on the relationship between the writer and a particular person, place, animal, or object. • Leaves the reader with one impression of the subject. • Limited to a particular phase, time, place, or recurring behavior. • Makes the subject come alive. • Maintains a first person point of view.

  8. Memoir Purpose Memoirs are truly reflective because they teach the writer who they are by looking at who they were.
