  4. August 2004 – Hurricanes Charley, Frances and Jeanne hit Central Florida Fall 2004 – FEMA authorized the Hazardous Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) to Central Florida. Provides grants to implement long-term hazard mitigation measures To reduce the loss of life and property 75% FEMA and 25% local share Background

  5. Early 2005 – Orange County identified facilities to protect from future disasters and submitted the appropriate HMGP applications. 2005 to 2008 - 9 projects were approved Total Project Costs $4.8M Federal Share (75%) $3.6M Local Share (25%) $1.2M Background

  7. Cassady Building Wind Retrofit 311, Code Enforcement Completed August 2009 Community Services Wind Retrofit Great Oaks Village - Evans Dining Hall Great Oaks Village - Youth Shelter Hal Marston Community Center Completed October 2009 Approved Projects

  8. Orange County Medical Clinic Wind Retrofit Completed March 2010 Fire Stations Bay Doors Wind Retrofit Installed 90 hurricane rated doors at 18 Orange County Fire Stations. Completed April 2010 Approved Projects

  9. 33rd Street Wind Retrofit Corrections Administration Building, Video Visitation, and Central Energy Plant (CEP) Completed September 2010 Approved Projects

  10. Fire Rescue Headquarters/EOC Roof Install a new roof at the Fire Rescue Headquarters/Emergency Operations Center to protect the facility up to a Cat. 3 hurricane. Completed November 2010 Approved Projects

  11. Great Oaks Village Stormwater Drainage Improve the storm water drainage for the Great Oaks Village Michigan campus. Scheduled to be completed in August 2011. Approved Projects

  12. Work Release Wind Retrofit Install a flexible wind abatement system to 90 windows, 11 doors, 7 curtain walls, 4 skylights, 7 louvers Scheduled to be completed in January 2012 Approved Projects

  13. Community Services Facilities Wind Retrofit (8 Facilities) Sheriff Sector I, III and IV Offices East Orange Community Center – Bldgs. A, C and D Lake Eleanor Health Department Juvenile Assessment Center Scheduled to be completed in January 2012 Approved Projects
