  2. Unit 2, Day 11 Warm-up: Copy vocabulary words Narrative- a story that is told or written Motivation- a force or influence that causes someone to do something. Intrinsic- from the inside, motivation that comes from your inner person. Extrinsic- from the outside, motivation that comes from other people or things. Flashback- a part of a story or movie that describes or shows something that happened in the past.

  4. Unit 2, Day 12 Warm-up: Copy and complete the set-up on the following sentences. Use the set-up chart if needed. Snakes are very interesting animals. About a dozen snake species are rare. Indigos seem very friendly. They are native to Florida and Georgia. All snakes are carnivores.

  6. Unit 2, Day 13 Warm-up: Copy and complete the set-up on the following sentences. Use the set-up chart if needed. Nome was a remote frontier town. The medicine was scarce. The train became stuck in the mud. The February weather was brutal. They were very tired and weak.

Unit 2, Day 13 • Write a paragraph in which you describe something you have done or would like to do that would prove you worthy of leaving your childhood behind and gaining new respect for yourself. • Examples: rescuing a cat from a tree, helping your little brother with his homework, babysitting, trophies, awards, good deeds. • Think of a new name to give yourself that describes your worthy deed. • Make a poster of your new name and story. Illustrate it.

  8. Sitting Bull One night, at the age of fourteen, I went with my father and other men. We were going to take horses from our enemy, the Crow. With only a coup stick, I charged ahead of the others. As one of the Crow warriors was about to shoot an arrow, I hit his arm with the coup stick. The arrow missed its mark. I was a hero!

  10. Unit 2, Day 14 • Narrative Prompt: In the story Hatchet, Brian comes to terms with his situation. Motivation is what will help Brian survive. He remembers the advice of a teacher who always told him that motivation was very important. Everyone needs motivation to help them in difficult times. Think about the positive things in your life that motivate you. Are these things intrinsic or extrinsic? Could negative experiences motivate you as well? • Write about an experience when you had to motivate yourself to do something you did not think you could do. Include flashbacks in your narrative. • Write a 3-4 paragraph narrative.

  11. Unit 2, Day 15 • Warm-up: Study vocabulary, Linking Verbs and Predicate Words. • Assessment • Turn in test and answer sheet. • Read Library book or write.
