Safety Coordinator Appointment • Each department head shall designate a safety coordinator. • A safety coordinator must hold a position similar to an employee in the Senior Management Service. • New safety coordinators must be appointed within 30 days of vacancy. • DFS-D0-858 “Safety Coordinator Appointment Form”.

  6. Safety Coordinator Responsibilities • Safety coordinator shall develop and implement loss prevention program • Must include: • Comprehensive safety program • Statement of safety policy • Facility & equipment inspections • Accident investigations • Safety awareness promotion

  8. Interagency Advisory Council on Loss Prevention • The IAC is composed of a safety coordinator from each agency. • The IAC shall meet quarterly to discuss statewide safety and loss prevention issues. • Safety coordinators must attend. • An alternate may be sent in his/her place.

  10. Return-to-Work (RTW) Programs • Agencies with more than 3,000 employees must have an RTW program. • Returns employees to work faster. • Accommodates functional limitations.

  11. Division of Risk Management Responsibilities • Conduct Agency Reviews. • All agencies are reviewed within a 5 year time period. • Agency reviews include review of return-to-work, loss prevention, and safety programs.
